I don't mean to sound harsh, it's just that I've seen about a million of these clones

Well, at least you've got some imagination - with a bit of work this could be a really good game! That shooter tutorial is very limited; learn some more action scripting and build on what you've got!

... but still looks ropey in places. You've got quite a strong style, I think thinks that look crap, like the flames, could easily be made better with a little imagination.
